Baking is my passion, my dream, my lifelong goal, and my future; baking is my life. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else. I’ve always known the culinary world was for me. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved being in the kitchen. The smell of flour, an air cloud of confectioners’ sugar, a favorite spatula, the aroma of vanilla extract; I fell in love with all of these aspects of the kitchen. I never actually had to realize I had a passion for the food service industry, because it was always there. Complete fascination with food has directed me to pursue not only this career field, but also this lifestyle.

I possess many characteristics that have aided me in becoming a successful pastry chef. My perfectionist tendencies and attention to detail have led me to become extremely patient and even-tempered. I am hardworking because it is all I know, and each task to be accomplished carries a great significance for me. This being said, I know I will constantly criticize my own work; pushing myself to work harder, improve my technique, and expand my knowledge.

In the kitchen I am quiet, determined and focused. I enter a world that is completely its own. Trivial matters disappear, as I escape the negative aspects of society, and I am left alone with my work, my creations. In the kitchen, I am focused beyond all measures, and I am determined to reach my goals, through hard work and perseverance. In the kitchen I am quiet because I don’t have the time for anything else.

Outside of the kitchen I am outgoing, friendly and social. Once I have become comfortable with my surroundings, I love nothing more than to interact with my fellow co-workers and friends. I love getting to know new people and forming lasting bonds. I have learned the value of teamwork and the key to cooperating with others in the kitchen, as well as outside of it. I believe that both of these aspects are very important in creating a positive work environment, and I firmly stand behind the idea that a positive work environment is the basis for a successful business.

My goals for myself and for my career are to learn as much as possible, by acquiring applicable knowledge and enhancing my skills, and to be the best pastry chef that I can be. In pursuing my dream and passion, I will not settle for anything less than absolute perfection in everything that I do.
